Recapping 2025’s Highlights at Shrewsbury Prison

Recapping 2025’s Highlights at Shrewsbury Prison

As the new year approaches, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what has been an extraordinary year at the World’s Most Immersive Prison. From celebrating a major anniversary and delivering unforgettable visitor experiences to welcoming a fantastic range of venue hires, 2025 has truly been a year to remember.

Achievements Worth Celebrating

This year marked 10 years since Shrewsbury Prison opened as a tourist attraction, welcoming visitors on its very first public tour. A decade on, the passion and dedication of our team have helped make the prison a must-visit experience in Shropshire. That work was recognised once again with the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for the ninth-year running, placing us in the top 10% of things to do globally based on visitor reviews.

We also took time to honour our past by naming our education rooms after two legendary former Tour Guides, Graham Goodwin and Keith Wilcockson. Their legacy remains an important part of the prison’s story, and it was a fitting tribute in such a milestone year.

Unforgettable Experiences from the Inside

Alongside our core offerings, including Guided Tours, escape rooms and the popular Night Behind Bars, we delivered a full calendar of special experiences throughout the year. From junior detectives during February Half Term to free entry for mums and dads on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, there was something for everyone.

Other highlights included our EGG-CELL-ENT Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Ghost Tours and a special offer for local residents with 60% off the Inmate Pass, because we believe history should be lived, explores and shared, not locked away behind closed doors.

Shrewsbury Prison: A Unique Venue to Hire

This year, we host a wide range of productions, external hires and charity events. One of the the most talked about was Locked Up’s Tattoo Convention, featuring over 100 talented artists, tattooing across the prison for a weekend of ink, artistry and entertainment.

Another standout moment saw Crooked House Events take over the prison for an unforgettable rave, headlined by Judge Jules. The jail has also continued to shine as a filming location, including being featured in Disney+’s new thriller, The Stolen Girl. Did you spot us?
