Shrewsbury Prison has an exciting new vacancy for a Tour Guide to join our existing Heritage & Tours team. This pivotal role is 21 hours per week, which will include weekdays, evenings and weekends. The salary for this position is £12,012.00 per annum.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring fantastic customer service and delivering fact-filled tours of the prison to our visitors, including:
– Guided Tours
Delivering Guided Tours on prison life and history from Georgian times to present day, to public groups across a range of ages
– Educational Tours
Delivering our ground-breaking new National Educational Programme to school groups of varying sizes, age range, and learning needs. Read more about our new Educational Programme!
Shrewsbury Prison is a heritage-led tourist attraction. Built in 1791 and servicing as Shropshire’s county’s prison, until its closure in 2013. Opening in 2015, Shrewsbury Prison began its journey of developing into a heritage attraction. It is now considered the World’s Most Interactive Prison, alongside being Shropshire’s Number 1 Tourist Destination, and the World’s 6th Dark Tourist Attraction. Shrewsbury Prison provides visitors an authentic Georgian, Victorian, and modern-day prison experience, led by Prison Officers with a wealth of experience and time ‘served’. There are a wide range of tours, activities and events happening at the prison, as well as education visits, team building, private hire, and production usage.
