Events & Activities Manager – 32 hours per week

The role:

As the Events & Activities Manager, you’ll be at the helm of innovation, meticulously crafting, and flawlessly executing immersive events and activities tailored to our historic backdrop. From conception to delivery, you’ll take a proactive approach, ensuring each event exceeds expectations and leaves a lasting impression on our guests.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a dedicated team to ensure the flawless execution of events, focusing on their development and growth
  • Collaborating with the Attraction Manager and department heads across Cove Group to maintain our reputation as a premier venue for both corporate and public events
  • Daily Management, ensuring seamless execution of daily events and activities, maintaining operational excellence throughout the venue
  • Providing on-shift leadership, inspiring and guiding staff across all departments to promote a cohesive and positive workplace culture
  • Setting the standard for exceptional customer service, actively engaging with guests to create memorable experiences
  • Upholding strict adherence to health and safety protocols, guaranteeing a secure environment for both visitors and staff
  • Take the lead role in development of event strategies
  • Co-ordinating a range of events including, conferences, corporate events, exhibitions, B2B professional events, and seasonal events
  • Conducting post-event evaluations to assess the success of events, gather feedback and identify areas of improvement. Preparing reports summarising event outcomes, including attendance, revenue, and participant or client feedback
  • Providing the highest level of customer experience and satisfaction across all events and activities
  • Leading by example in delivering exceptional customer service, assisting customers, and resolving issues promptly
  • Developing and implementing event strategies to achieve revenue targets and maximise sales opportunities
  • Development and management of rotas for all employees within the department
  • Recruitment, training, development, and supervision of the events and activities team, providing guidance, motivation, leadership, and support to ensure a high performing team
  • Conducting regular staff training sessions and performance reviews to enhance the teams’ skills and development
  • Cost Control & Budget Management
  • The Event & Activities Manager will support the Attraction Manager to achieve budget targets for the department

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a history of guiding teams to success in the delivery of events
  • A strong foundation in customer service, adept at engaging with diverse groups within an event milieu
  • Technological proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office, crucial for event planning and execution

Duty Manager – Health & Safety – 32 hours per week

As the Duty Manager, you’ll be at the heart of Shrewsbury Prison’s operations, ensuring flawless management of shifts and delivering unforgettable experiences for our guests. You’ll oversee daily operations, manage our dedicated team, and uphold the highest service standards that make us stand out.

But that’s not all – you’ll also be our Health & Safety champion! Working closely with every department, you’ll ensure strict compliance with regulations. From risk assessments to maintenance checks, your attention to detail will keep our site safe and secure for all visitors and staff.

The role is 32 hours per week, over 4 days (on a rota basis, to include some weekends). The salary band is ÂŁ20,000-ÂŁ24,000 per annum.

Key responsibilities:

  • Overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure smooth functioning across all departments, as well as addressing and resolving any operational challenges or concerns efficiently
  • On shift supervising and supporting staff members from all departments, to ensure exception service and delivery
  • On shift leading and motivating staff members from all departments, fostering a productive and positive work environment
  • Leading the way in delivering first class customer service and engagement
  • Ensuring compliance with day-to-day health & safety, ensuring the safety of all visitors and staff members
  • Managing, creating, and updating risk assessments throughout the attraction
  • Completing various weekly and month building checks including fire alarms, emergency lighting and fire extinguishers
  • Working closely with the Estates Manager to ensure risk compliance and mitigation
  • Completing various on-site repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Being competent in reporting and managing repairs and maintenance tasks across the site
  • Escalating repairs and maintenance issues when appropriate to the Estates Manager
  • The Duty Manager will need to identify and address any challenges and issues that may arise. They should be able to find solutions and mitigate problems effectively
  • Good communication is key to the role. The Duty Manager should ensure clear and transparent communication to the teams, Attraction Manager, other managers, and with other departments
  • Ensuring that our customers, clients, and other stakeholders have their expectations exceeded with the quality of the site

2x Events & Activities Assistants – 32 hours per week

ÂŁ17,472.00 per annum

This exciting role of Events & Activities Assistant is to support the Duty Manager with our sensational range of activities & events. From locking people up in our prison themed Escape Rooms, to running our adrenaline-packed Axe Throwing sessions, you’ll be heavily involved in all the various events and activities that Shrewsbury Prison has to offer.

This role requires first class delivery, great customer service and the ability to pick up new skills, like throwing axes!

The role is 32 hours per week, working weekdays, weekends, and some evenings. The salary for this role is ÂŁ17,472.00.

Key responsibilities:

  • Having a full knowledge of all products, tours and activities available at Shrewsbury Prison
  • Learning and supporting large events, such as Prison Break, by playing a character
  • Learning and running all activities such as Escape Rooms, Axe Throwing, Archery Wars, and more!
  • Supporting the events team with Night Behind Bars
  • Ensuring all activities are carried out in a safe and secure manner
  • Ensuring activities are conducted at a high standard
  • Working as part of a team and maintaining communication with fellow colleagues and actors during events
